Celebrity Cultrual Article

Article 2 – Celebrity culture
 Title - I Am a Celebrity
Sub Heading - ‘Celebrities are so interesting, Im in love with it’
Eden says the biggest influence in her life is not her family or friends... it’s the celebrities that don’t even know she exists. “If Kim Kardashian shaves her hair off I would definitely consider shaving my hair.” Saying why wouldn’t you want to be like celebrities? Being famous, having lots of money, being paid for just being you? I could definitely get used to it.
Asking Eden a range of questions, she comes across very outgoing and confident. “Even when they are drunk they still look glamorous.” Influenced by celebrity’s lifestyles, Eden regularly visits big places like London, and Essex just to buy a pair of jeans, she has even started the local gym which she hates, but all celebrities go to the gym right? Fake tan, fake eye lashes, fake hair extensions... everything fake basically. “I love being fake”
“I love going out and partying, which I why I think I relate to celebrities. Socialising with my friends getting drunk obviously” Eden says you will either find her in the hairdressers or the nail bar on a day time and the night club on a night time. Just to sit in the house she puts a full face of make up on. I also asked her if she would change her lifestyle now. “No way! Why would I? I mean I am so happy the way I am now why should I change anything I am who I am.”
Some people think this is all put on for a bit of attention, but Eden is so passionate about the lifestyle she leads I asked her if other people were in the same situation as you what advice would you give them. She was horrified “I don’t feel like I am in any situation, I am still me I just like doing the same things as celebrities... I don’t feel I am any different to most people of my age.” As I have seen in the media some people can change drastically to be like their idols, where as Eden is a bit more sensible and keeps it to her.
“The most influence I have had is celebrity based programmes, like TOWIE and Geordie shore. I love going out partying ‘ESSEX STYLE!’ – drinking a lot and just generally having a good time. On average per month, I spend at least £200 on clothes, fake tan, nails, eye lashes and make-up. On going out I spend another £200 per month. I guess you could say Geordie Shore has influenced me as they have made me wear more fake tan.”

Depression Article

Article 1 - Depression
Title -‘Holla at me Girls!’
Sub heading – Nicola was a victim of Depression. Thankfully after a gruelling few months she over comes it. Depression affects so many people, it hurts and it kills. Here’s Nicola’s story.
“I was unhappy for 6 months; my children were always at me saying something is wrong with me, screaming you need help! After this I cried for days nonstop I didn’t go into work and I laid in bed all day and this is when I realised something was wrong and I really did need help”. Nicola is traumatised by her experience and said it could have ended badly, if she didn’t have her children. “After when I realised something was wrong I went to see my nurse, she then put me through to a councillor and she was so helpful I would recommend this to anyone. I am so glad I realised something was wrong sooner rather than later”. If people don’t do anything about depression they could hurt themselves, and have disastrous consequences. Nicola felt it was so hard to come over her depression, although she pushed herself so she could get better. When Nicola was put through to a councillor she gave her anti depressant drugs which helped for the first few weeks, although she was still unhappy and had no self esteem. She felt helpless and ended up having to quit her job, staying at home all day crying non-stop. Nicola then forced herself to go back and see the councillor as what the councillor had advised just wasn’t working. She put me through to a focus group with a mentor and other people who were just like me; we all sat around in a circle and shared their stories to each other. “It shows that I wasn’t alone, I wasn’t the only one and I wasn’t going crazy. It made me feel a stronger person and it really helped my confidence.”
Sub heading – What to do if you’re worried.
Before you seek help from someone, you have to identify that you have depression. The main symptoms of depression are losing interests in normal activities, hobbies, and everyday life. Feeling tired and having no energy, some people find it difficult to sleep, or waking up early in the morning. Having a poor appetite, losing weight or alternatively putting on weight. Some people find it hard to concentrate feeling restless and anxious. Loosing self confidence and feeling useless, resulting in avoiding people. Feeling hopeless and guilty about something you have done in the past. All of this builds up and the one thing that is really common with depressing is thinking about committing suicide. Don’t let yourself get in this position. Nicola had her fair share of symptoms... “I was so unhappy, I had no confidence in myself and I never wanted to leave the house. I stopped seeing all my friends and didn’t see to no one, I would even try to avoid my children; I just wanted to stay in bed all day.” Within her whole experience of depression there was something going on in her life that triggered off her depression. “When you’re that low with depression, you can’t be bothered with anyone and you forget who your loved ones are. When people asked me what caused it I couldn’t explain because it all happened so fast and I didn’t really know I was that depressed. When I sat with my mentor she really helped put a pin on what went wrong so I didn’t make the same mistake twice. For a start my husband became bankrupt losing all of our money in result of this we went through an awful divorce he took me to court many times. Then I had to pay for my two kids and me a house as he provided me with nothing it was such a struggle.”
“I am sharing my experience not to scar you for life, but to understand what depression can do, and make you aware that it is a serious cause, and to help you to get through this TOGETHER!”

Monitoring Log 2 Week Commencing 14th January

Monitoring log 2 Week Commencing 14th January

During this week I had an organised schedule of what I was going to do day by day. Firstly if had to finish off my articles which I had started on the previous week, researching story styles and intro to produce the best possible quality in my articles. I think these have come out really well; I have used a lot of emphasis within these to elaborate on the genre of the articles. I have printed these off to be marked as these are a first draft and get some feedback from my teacher.
The second lesson started writing my headlines and sell lines which I just added onto the word document of my articles. Within my home work I researched some previous headlines and sell lines of other magazine genres to enable myself to understand what I could put into my magazine. I really feel like my headlines and sell lines relate to my articles. One gives a brief over view of the article in one sentence. Where another just gives an insight to what the article consists of, this is persuading the reader to read on.
The third lesson of this week consisted of reference materials for my photo shoot, the location reference, costumes and poses for each photo shoot although I didn’t manage to finish this off in lesson I will find time to finish this off as homework as I have now finished my exams I will have more time to focus on my production process. I also found it hard to come up many different props I am going to use to make my photo shoots interesting, so I may have to research different photo shoot material to make sure I can conduct my photo shoot which is relevance to my articles.
As homework I spoke to each of my models to make sure they understood all the terms and conditions of the photo shoot. What they will be doing, what it is for, why they are doing it, and what they will need to wear.
Also as homework I researched the colours and fonts I was going to use, which I added on to each articles.

Moitor log, week 1 - week commencing 7th January

Monitoring log, week commencing 7th January

I have organised my schedule where I have 4 and half hours of class time, and I also do 4 and a half hours worth of homework each week. This way I will have completed my final product in time for my deadline. I think I have well organised my schedule, in the right order, leaving my indesgin until one of the last things to do, and fitting in my article write up, photo shoots beforehand. This way I think will work well as I have all the right things first in order to them complete it finally on indesgin. I believe my schedule is realistic, I have thought how long each thing is going to take me and I have wrote them in correctly. If anything does go wrong, I will have to re-plan what I have to do in my spare time to make sure I complete things to the deadline and to a high standard.
I have made sure I have left a week spare at the end of the schedule for contingency time, to make sure I have enough time to complete things if they may run over for any reason. Also I may have time to collect some quick feedback from people to see what last minute changes I could apply in order of completion.
The big challenges I am going to have to undertake within my schedule are the photo shoots, as I have 3 to complete it is going to take me a long time, to get set up with the models the camera and the studio. Then having to take a lot of pictures enabling myself to get the correct one for the article.
